About Us

Bentley's String Instruments began in 1999 and has been serving the finest musicians in the Northwest ever since. The founder and lead repairman for the Everett-based shop is Jon Bentley. His studies at Kent State University and Seattle Pacific University have allowed him to develop a keen understanding of the physics of string instruments, and formulate techniques to enhance the sound quality of all the instruments serviced at the shop. In addition to his duties as builder and repairman, Bentley also offers classes in mandolin building several times each year. Jon has taught 39 students in the last four years and has a waiting list of over two years for his personal instruments.
Bill Crowe has mastered the most challenging repairs in the field, joining the company in 2000. His techniques and workmanship in fretwork and structural repairs are particularly noteworthy. The employees examine each others work in order to insure the proper care and maintenance of each instrument that enters the shop. The two repairman combine to offer over 35 years experience on each repair.

Bentley's String Instruments is a fully authorized service center for C.F. Martin & Company, Inc.
